Petrovac, little town with old fortress Kastel, beautiful beaches, comfortable hotels and magnificent nature. It is situated in a valley 18 km far away from Budva, surrounded by hills entering into sea and separated from the sea by two sandy beaches.
Petrovac was built in Roman times and it is supposed nowadays that the town was one of the resting places on the Roman way up to the Adriatic coast. Only two Roman mosaics date from that time and they are placed in Mirište settlement. The oldest name for this settlement is Lastva, wich is mentioned for the first time in Pop Dukljanin chronicle. This settlementwas built between the end of 18th and beginning of 19th century, and today it presents an attractive tourist place. An old legend says that on the island situated in front of Petrovac named Katič, there is a church called St. Nedjelja built by a sailor who, after he had a shipwreck, saved himself on that island. Sandy beach, of about 600 m long, with reddish sand, is one of the most visited on Budva's riviera. It is also special for the islands Katič and St. Nedjelja, which present the challenge for the divers who come. Together with all other natural beauties, the beach of Petrovac belongs to the protected regions in Montenegro. Swimming zone is surrounded with clean promenade with lots of cafes, restaurants and gift shops.
Lučice beach is 500 meters southward from Petrovac. It looks like a little bay, and it is 220 m long. This beach has also got sand on the lend and under the low leveled bottom going into the sea, and pine and oak forest at behind.
